Hulu is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent Far Cry game that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for celebrating violence and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while telling gripping, socially charged narratives. Little surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two visionaries whose projects have exemplified all of those elements.
About the Series
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' format by featuring a different setting and cast of characters in each season.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the creator.
“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their ongoing confidence and backing.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style series. Every title is a take of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a story,” noted Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can shift from year to year, while always examining the essence of humanity through this complex and turbulent lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to partner with Rob and bring our shared unconventional, visionary approach to the television.”
A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
