Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is not yet known and the United States has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with notable success and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported missile fragments landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
