Jennifer Lawrence has declared that she no longer feels appropriate to speak out regarding the Trump presidency, fearing it could intensify polarizing arguments and deepen rifts throughout the United States.

‘I’m Unsure If It’s Wise’, Explains the Actress

During a discussion, the Oscar winner shared, “Back in Trump’s initial term, I felt like I was running around in a panicked state. But experience has shown, through repeated campaigns, public figures do not make a difference at all on electoral choices.”

The actor went on, “What’s the point? I’m just sharing my opinion on an issue that’s going to worsen tensions that’s ripping the country apart.”

Shifting Views

Lawrence has spoken candidly about supporting right and leftwing presidential nominees throughout her life. Raised by a right-leaning family in Kentucky, she cast her ballot for John McCain in the 2008 election prior to switching to the left-leaning politics and stating she understood during the Obama era that voting Republican was opposing her individual liberties as a woman.

Earlier in her career, she commented that Donald Trump’s election might signal “a catastrophic event” and backed the Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential race. More recently, she lent her support to Vice President Harris, “as I think she’s an excellent choice and I trust that she will take all necessary steps to protect women’s health rights.”

Industry Position

Lawrence was supported by many in the entertainment industry in her rejection of the former president as a returning figure, but the lack of leverage stars have over the public choices was underscored by Trump’s victory.

“Another four years appears changed,” commented Lawrence regarding his administration. “Since he stated his intentions. We were aware of his actions for four years. He was very clear. And that’s the option selected.”

Current Projects

The actor is discussing the drama, director Lynne Ramsay’s project in which she portrays a new mother who faces challenges with her psychological well-being in rural Montana. At a media event for the project in the film festival, the star spoke about the situation in the Middle East: “It’s frightening. It’s devastating. What’s occurring is equivalent to a genocide and it’s horrible.”

She continued by stating that she was disappointed by “the lack of civility in the discussions of the political landscape right now and how that is going to be normalised to the kids today. It’s going to be standard to them that elected officials deceive.”

She sought to redirect frustration about the conflict to policymakers rather than celebrities. “Concentrate on those accountable,” she advised, which was interpreted as a reference to the then-recent pledge signed by thousands of Hollywood professionals to avoid certain cultural organizations.

“It was fear about my child,” she commented, “envisioning every potential danger, and then questioning everything that I was trying. I was seeing a therapist, but I began using a treatment called the prescription and I continued it for a short period and it really helped.”

Lawrence also discussed regarding the empowering aspect of shooting revealing sequences in the movie while she was expecting and couldn’t work out.

“There’s a freedom,” she commented, of being forced to abandon insecurities. “I mean, I sometimes think where I’m like, What technically are the differences between my work and that profession? But it isn’t a major concern.”
