Russell Wilson Responds at Ex-Mentor Sean Payton Over Quarterback Remarks
NY Giants signal-caller Russell Wilson didn't mince words on online platforms this Tuesday, reacting to recent comments from his ex-mentor Sean Payton.
"Classless... but not surprised...," Wilson stated on X. "Didn't realize you're still bounty hunting 15+ years later through the press."
Wilson's response directly referenced the infamous bounty scandal issue from 2009-11, when Payton was coaching the New Orleans Saints.
During that period, the league found that the Saints had incentivized players for making hard hits on opponents. Consequently, Payton was suspended from the league for one season.

Wilson's response came after Payton delivered remarks after the Broncos' remarkable 33-32 win over the Giants. The coach suggested that the Giants had "found a little spark" with their new QB, who has replaced Wilson as the first-string QB.
Additionally, Payton hinted that he had told team owner John Mara that he would prefer facing Wilson over Dart.
"I was talking to John Mara not too long ago and I said, 'We hoped that the switch would've happened well after our game,'" the coach commented.
