The original stars, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will return for the new Hunger Games movie, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
Reports indicate that original stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
A Significant Comeback for the Franchise
The duo will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. Speculation suggests their cameos will take the form of a brief glimpse ahead, considering the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.
This marks the sixth cinematic outing in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.
Exploring the New Story
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a recent book by author Suzanne Collins. It will be the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who was behind the majority of the previous films in the series.
The Plot and New Cast
The film's events are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.
The supporting roles feature several accomplished actors in pivotal roles:
- Jesse Plemons is playing Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes will appear as a younger version of the menacing President Snow.
