Tributes Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community continue to honor the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt ready to express about his deep grief.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can finally articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, saying that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the production, adding that he doesn't recollect "a single day without joy".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a different tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
This week, a Los Angeles judge decided to bar the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order issued a security hold on the files to limit the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" connected to the active case.
The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of homicide, with a public database listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
After the killings, public figures shared varying responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making provocative claims that were broadly criticized by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the detractors recently. Talking on his program, Rogan characterized the remarks as "disappointing" and implied they demonstrated a worrisome absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an adviser should have stepped in when the impulse to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
