Two men have been charged in connection with a luggage theft where a substance thought to be irritant spray led to people being hurt at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two counts of robbery and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, as confirmed by court officials.

These accusations come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Prior to the attack, two female travelers had their suitcases stolen after exiting a car park lift, according to law enforcement.

A young child was among those injured during the incident. Several persons were taken to a medical facility and were subsequently released.

The incident – which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as terrorism – resulted in disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a brief period.
