The Manager's Stance on Celtic

The Ipswich boss described Celtic as "a really big soccer institution" but emphasized he is "deeply involved" of a "extensive rebuilding" with Ipswich Town.

The mid-thirties took charge of Portman Road in 2021 and led them to the Premier League with back-to-back promotions, but they won just four games last season as they were demoted back to the Championship and they presently occupy 12th in the Championship.

"I have not had any of those conversations," the English capital native former Northern Ireland youth international said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"It's not something I have considered seriously, or where any portion of my concentration is currently.

"I possess a unique position here at a remarkable club. And we're at a really important stage of the campaign. Anything external hasn't touched my radar."

Context and Contractual Aspects

It has been suggested that McKenna would be willing to talk to Celtic given his childhood support.

"Growing up, we all have our affinities," he said when asked about these. "I don't think all people has to go around and announce what they used to be, but of course it's a really big sports organization."

McKenna agreed to a new four-year contract in 2024 and was asked about his reported buyout clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are provisions," he responded. "I'm unaware what mine are and, if I did, I wouldn't disclose you anyway!

"I tackle this role like I will remain Town's coach indefinitely. I understand that's not invariably going to be the case, but I will consistently do my best as while I am here."

The Welsh Coach's Position

Bellamy represented Celtic on loan from the Magpies in the mid-2000s, but the ex- Welsh forward is minded to complete the current World Cup campaign, a position that would effectively rule out the mid-forties from immediately taking the Glasgow position.

Wales are presently in third place in their qualifying group behind group toppers Belgium and second-placed Macedonia.

Wins over Liechtenstein and North Macedonia in next month would secure their place in the final qualifying round, but they are all but assured of reaching that stage, thanks to a successful Nations League performance, even if they fail to finish as Group J runners-up.

Considering his current stance, Bellamy, whose contract concludes after Euro 2028, would be unavailable until after the qualifying matches at the earliest.
